Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek: Gear List (Part 2)
Everest is quickly approaching! I will be flying to Nepal in just 60-days! Over the past few months I have been checking and double-checking my gear to make sure I have what I will need. Luckily, I haven’t had to get much. Our guide company, Embark Expeditions Co. provides a detailed list of the items that will be required. Understanding what you need will help cut down on weight and taking (buying) things that are not necessary.
There is a weight limit on the trail since my duffel bag is going to be transported between stops by porters and yaks. Duffel bags cannot be more than 10 kg (22 lbs.) and daypacks should be no more than 5 kg (11 lbs.) I will carry the backpack, which I am sure it will be more than the recommended 11 lbs.
In addition to all the standard items, I will be bringing my Nikon D500 with two lens, a few filters, extra memory, batteries, and a small tripod. I will also be using FiLMic Pro app on my iPhone Pro Max for video recording. I am trying to set my photo expectations to a reasonable level with the understanding that we will be at altitude where a lot of extra running around, climbing or going off trail is not going to be happening as much as I will want.
Here is a list of items I will be taking, though I am sure there will be a little more fine-tuning between now and when I am packing. If I forget anything, I can always try to get it in Katmandu or Namche Bazar.

Trekking in Nepal has been on my to-do list for years. Since I started alpine mountain climbing in 2010, Everest among other well-known summits has captured my imagination.
Nepal is home to eight of the ten highest summits in the world. These areas of rich culture and diverse people have views only attainable by foot. Through their success and tragedy, I have come to know this region through stories of climbers and Sherpas in videos and books.
